Karate Spring Camp

I'm Xander and I'm 11 years old. I was lucky enough to attend the Karate Spring Camp on the Great Ocean Road in Anglesea, Victoria. It was at the YMCA Recreation Camp. It's the first time that I have been to a karate camp just for Primary School aged kids.

I remember walking into the room where I was staying. It was like being on a school camp, I was staying in a room with my dad and two friends. It was great getting to see my karate friends out of class. We had a lot of fun.

When I think about the karate classes I remember the grappling techniques that Sensei Michael taught and the choreography that we practiced and then performed in front of the class. The classes were fun and exciting with a lot of variation. I enjoyed having many different instructors.

Food was served in a large diner with everyone all together. We ate meals like burgers, meat and veg. I'm usually a fussy eater, but I enjoyed the meals served.
After we finished eating the karate group had to clean their plates and put them away, stack chairs, wipe tables and vacuum. I helped with stacking the chairs and cleaning my table.

Something made me laugh at the camp. It was when we were dancing at the disco and Sensei Ray did his Michael Jackson dance.

My favorite part of the camp was spending time with my friends and training with all of the sensei's

We did lots of karate, but lots of time doing other activities too like, playing chess on the big outdoor chess board. Playing beach volleyball, playing ga ga ball.

If some other kids are not sure if they should go or not for next year I would tell them that they shouldn't miss it!!! It was an awesome experience and a lot of fun.

The last thing that I'd like to tell you is that I'm going again next year!!! See you there.
