Classic Karate

Sundays at Pennant Hills, Karate Kidz 5.00 pm, Cadets and Shoto 6.00pm

Specifically designed to reflect traditional Japanese Karate-do; the classes are in the style 'Shotokan'. Traditional Karate places emphasis of Kihon (basics), Kata (forms), Kumite (sparring). A Japanese phrase helps to explain the intention of each training session: Shin-Gi-Tai.

Shin loosely translates as spirit and determination. Gi translates as skill and knowledge. Tai reflects conditioning of the body. These intentions are the nucleus of the dojo. Sunday Classic Karate is a minimalist experience - just the students and a timber floor. It is a unique and valuable class; which we encourage all our members to attend.

All ages 14 and up, Mondays at Thornleigh 7:00pm

Yin Yang Fusion is a double session of traditional Japanese karate followed by yoga for mobility and mindfulness. Wear your gi and belt for Classic Karate first - kata, fighting techniques and conditioning. Bring your yoga mat and change of clothes for Yoga to finish - a yoga session tailor made for martial artists.

Yoga and martial arts are so complimentary and beneficial for each other that we have scheduled them back to back each Monday. For those who wish to attend yoga only, please arrive at 8:00pm. Casual attendance options are available.

Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is a predominantly ground-based martial art, using the principals of leverage, angles, pressure and timing, as well as knowledge of the human anatomy, in order to achieve a non-violent submission of one's opponent.

Training sessions include warm-up drills, revising and learning new techniques, and free rolling. BJJ is a great fitness workout and is excellent for developing a strong core, improving balance, toning and building lean muscle as it uses all parts of the body.

Karate Kidz are also guided into our beginner-friendly competition, the ‘All Star Karate League’ (ASKL) where they can learn to compete in a great environment focussed on growth and development.

4-6 year olds  and 7-9 year olds are designated their own separate class times with our instructors to maximise their progress.
